Senator Durbin slams Trump administration on asylum seekers

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) — Senator Dick Durbin slammed the new Trump administration on asylum seekers.

In a speech on the Senate floor Tuesday, Durbin called out the Trump administration for the unprecedented cruelty they have shown to our immigrants.

"He's turned back the clock. We're back in the St Louis era, where we are turning away refugees who are simply coming here trying to find some safe place to be. America's better than this. We can keep our nation safe and respect our heritage as a nation of immigrants."
