Mommy Matters: A special connection between comfort dogs and local children

Mommy Matters: A special connection between comfort dogs and local children. (WICS)

When you think of comfort dogs, many people assume they are deployed to disaster zones or help at hospitals. But, these dogs are spending the evening at the library, listening to local children share their favorite stories.

It's all part of PawPrint Ministries, a non-profit organization based out of central Illinois. Trained dogs not only provide compassion, but they help people through some of their darkest days. It's a lengthy process for a dog to become a "comfort dog". It includes a temperament evaluation and special training.
