Mommy Matters: Learning A Life Lesson Through Hip Hop Dance
You may have seen a group of young dancers over the years, practicing at local parks. It all started thanks to one man and word of mouth. Everett Mixon used dance as his outlet during his childhood in East St. Louis. For the past seven years, he's taught his hip hop dance moves to kids in Springfield. He never charges a fee and always covers any expenses that come their way.
Recently, he called around looking to rent a space at a dance studio. After hearing his story, Springfield Dance owner, Ronda Brinkman, offered up studio space to Everett's dance group for free. Three days a week, the group practices at Springfield Dance, learning new moves and important lessons in life, thanks to their teacher Everett.
The group will be performing Friday, May 19th at Springfield's Southeast High School at 7pm. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help with expenses associated with the group. For more information click the link: GoFundMe
