Holocaust Survivor Shares Story With Local School
Friday, 8th grade students at Grant Middle School had the chance to speak with a holocaust survivor.
Eny Hirte is 97 years old and she spent Friday speaking to her great-great grandson's class.
Originally from Norway, Hirte was captured by the Germans and sent to work at a concentration camp in Germany as a nurse.
Hirte is not Jewish, but she was still starved by the Germans.
She took some time before the class to tell us about her experience.
"Hitler was a bad person," Hirte said. "when he came in to Norway and took over that was a mess. We were forced to work in a concentration camp and it was not a good thing to be.
Hirte was rescued from Germany by an American soldier who later became her husband.
