Thomas Patrick is your weekend meteorologist at Newschannel 20. You can also see him filling in for Cheryl Lemke and Joe Crain as well as reporting on weather and science related stories during the week.
Thomas joined Newschannel 20 after spending two years at KNBN in Rapid City, South Dakota. Weather has always been his one true calling since watching thunderstorms at age 5. Growing up near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Thomas has experienced the extremes of all 4 seasons. He graduated with his bachelor's degree in Meteorology from Valparaiso University in 2012.
Thomas is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist with the American Meteorological Society (AMS).
The biggest weather event Thomas has covered was the Black Hills blizzard in October 2013. A whopping 2 to 5 feet of snow fell in that early season snow paralyzing several communities for 48 hours, and leaving Thomas, himself, stranded in a northern hills town for 36 hours while reporting on the event. So far in Springfield, the flooding in December '15 has been the most extreme weather event he's covered in his first year at Channel 20.
Other than weather, Thomas is an avid sports fan, as well as a former college athlete. You can always find him cheering on most of his hometown teams - especially the Packers. Thomas was a Division 1-Horizon League swimmer at Valpo and still roots for his Alma Mater the Crusaders.
