Katherine Tellez joined the Fox Illinois team in November of 2016 after working for four years as a journalist all over Illinois.
Katherine started her career in Quincy, Ill., made her way to Peoria, Ill., and then to Champaign as the 5:30 and 9 p.m. anchor for Fox Champaign. She has covered national stories, like the resignation of former Congressman Aaron Schock and the deadly 2013 tornadoes that ravaged the town of Washington, Ill. Katherine is most passionate about covering health and education stories; especially those that impact our youth.
Illinois is home for Katherine. She grew up in the small town of Elwood, Illinois and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from DePaul University in Chicago.
While Katherine loves being a journalist, her greatest role is that of “mom.” She is the proud mother of one (soon-to-be two) children and a dog mom to a Boston Terrier named Lucy. When she is not at work, you will likely find her spending time with her family. Katherine also loves trying new restaurants, (especially Mexican food!) and working out. It’s all about balance!
