Harlem Globetrotters help Iles Elementary become bully free
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) —
Students at Iles Elementary had a jumping start to their morning after a visit from one of the members of the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters
Handles Franklin presented to students great basketball skills while also sharing the ABC's of bullying, action, bravery, and compassion.
The goal is to help kids come up with strategies to create a bully-free school.
"So, what we try to do is captivate them with the basketball skills but mostly importantly, give them tools that they can remember and that they can use,” Harlem Globetrotter Handles Franklin said. “And it sounds like it and it looked like the kids really took to it and remember the points that I talked about."
If you're sad you missed out on the Harlem Globetrotters, don't worry because they will be back in Springfield on December 8 with a full show.
Right now the players are on a break before they start to tour again in a few weeks.
