New Face To Taylorville High School Football
TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WRSP/WICS) —
Making the decision to switch to a different school district, Caleb Roethemeyer knew there would be a price to pay -- to pay tuition and sitting out of all sports his entire freshman year.
"I was a little disappointed we couldn't figure something out, but we knew what we were going to do was best for me and knew that was the right thing to do," said Roethemeyer.
Only allowed to play winter and spring sports his sophomore year, Roethemeyer is now suiting up to play varsity football for the first time as a junior.
"Once I started playing and people started playing with me, it just came naturally," said Roethemeyer.
"He's done a really nice job. He's one of those guys, he's gifted athletically. He's got great length. I think he hasn't really tapped into his football potential yet," said head Taylorville football coach Jeb Odam.
Roethemeyer says there's no doubt Taylorville is where he belongs.
"I love the intensity. I love the atmosphere here basically," said Roethemeyer.
