Illinois Hires Brad Underwood As Next Men's Basketball Head Coach

CHAMPAIGN, Ill (WICS/WRSP) - Brad Underwood will now lead the Illinois Men's Basketball program. It took a week for University of Illinois Director of Athletics Josh Whitman to complete a change in direction for the team. The school announced Saturday that Whitman is hiring the former Oklahoma State head coach. He becomes the programs 18th head basketball coach. Underwood led Oklahoma State to the NCAA Tournament this season. Many around coaching circles rave about his up tempo spread offense. His team was top ten in points and tops in the country in scoring efficiency. This is Underwood's third head coaching position in division one, Illinois (2017), Oklahoma State (2016-17) and Stephen F. Austin (2013-2016). According to reports, Underwood agrees to a 6 year, $18 million deal and is expected to make $3 Million a year.
