Visitors make Valentine's Day cards from the Civil War Era
Volunteers at the Old State Capitol shared valentine cards from the Civil War Era.
The Victorian Valentine event allows those who visit the capitol to make their own cards like they did back in the day.
Organizers say they hope visitors leave educated with interesting facts about how Valentine’s Day was celebrated during the Civil War.
"They also have an opportunity to then carry that away,” Volunteer Laura Reyman. “and discuss how much they enjoyed, we hope, their moments here with us and dealing with a particular activity."
Volunteers from the Springfield Soldiers Aid Society brought this event back after it was so popular last year.
The Old State Capitol is free to visit during business hours.
