Unemployment Rate Drops to 4.9% in March

Illinois' unemployment rate dropped for the second consecutive month in march.

The rate is now 4.9 percent, which is the lowest level in a decade.

Data does show Illinois is still lagging in job growth and industries like manufacturing, construction and government have lost jobs in the past year.

Illinois' unemployment rate is still higher than the national rate of 4.5 percent.
