Two men facing charges for alleged armed robbery, high-speed chase
BEARDSTOWN, Ill. (WICS) —
Two Decatur men are in jail and facing multiple charges after allegedly robbing the Beardstown Walmart, then leading police on a high-speed chase.
Police said 23-year-old Deon McDonald and 21-year-old Deandre Douglas implied they had guns during the robbery then fled the store in a black SUV.
Deputies didn't start pursuing the men until they were on I-72 but ended when the vehicle went into Macon County.
Shortly after the chase, the SUV crashed outside of Decatur and the two men were arrested in a field.
