A teen was arrested Thursday night for making a terrorist threat against Mattoon High School.

Mattoon police arrested a 14-year-old female Thursday in Effingham just after 10 p.m.

The juvenile has been charged with making a terrorist threat after allegedly using Snap Chat to make a threat of gun violence towards Mattoon High School.

Police found this was a hoax, and the juvenile had no true intention of carrying out any act of violence against anyone.

We spoke to some parents and they feel like the school isn't doing enough, especially after the cafeteria shooting that happened a few months ago.

"Since the last shooting, as far as I can tell, the school has done nothing to beef up security and I don't know why," Mark Cutright, said.

The juvenile was not armed and did not have access to firearms. She was immediately transported to a juvenile lockup facility.

The Mattoon School District Superintendent says support services will be available at MHS for students and staff.
