Suspects in Lanphier stabbings arrested
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) —
Springfield police have arrested four people in connection with a stabbing at Lanphier High School that left several people hurt.
Macivelly Lacy, 18, Donovan Bailey, 21, and two boys were arrested and charged with aggravated battery, unlawful use of a weapon, and mob action.
Because the other two are minors, their names will not be released.
The stabbing happened just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Lanphier High School following a basketball game.
Police say six people were stabbed.
None of them suffered serious injuries.
On November 11, at approximately 9:22 p.m., Springfield Police were sent to Lanphier High School located at 1300 N. 11th Street for a report of multiple stabbing victims. Upon arriving, officers located six victims who had been stabbed by several black male suspects.
The victims identified two of the suspects as Macivelly Lacy, age 18, and Donovan Bailey, age 21. The remaining suspects were identified as juvenile males, one of which was treated at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. He was later transported to the Sangamon County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with aggravated battery, unlawful use of a weapon, and mob action.
On November 13, at approximately 10:49 p.m., Springfield Police officers located Macivelly Lacy, Donovan Bailey, and one of the juvenile male suspects in a vehicle in the 600 block of east South Grand Avenue. The males were detained and later interviewed by detectives. Lacy and Bailey were transported to the Sangamon County Jail and charged with aggravated battery and mob action. The juvenile suspect was transported to the Sangamon County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with aggravated battery, unlawful use of a weapon, and mob action.
