The Outlet in Springfield received $1,700 Friday as part of our weather guarantee with Green Family Stores.

The Outlet caters to kids ages 7-19 in the community regardless of their background.

Mentors help build off their natural curiosity and give them a place to hang out with other kids in a safe and positive environment.

The money donated will add more resources available to the kids, like computers and robotics which have been a big hit recently.

“With the robotics aspect of it, they get to learn how something actually works by putting it together themselves,” said Marus Butler who is a mentor with The Outlet. “Right now we're in the process of making phone covers through a 3D machine."

“We believe in investing in people,” business development director of Green Family Stores, Carly Crawford said. “What better investment than with the community and especially these young men."

During the month of November, the Storm Team will be raising money for the Family Service Center
