Stopping violence while having some fun
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) —
Putting an end to violence by revving up some fun!
The Stop the Violence Project and Back to School Program made it's way to Jaycee Park in Springfield Saturday.
Hundreds of kids and their parents came out to win prizes, eat some good food and get ready for school with a school supply drive.
The Stop the Violence Project goal is to do just that, show local kids that staying out crime is good for them, their families and their community.
"If we continue to come here and hit it and hit it and hit it, that's what brings change. We believe you change a community one neighborhood at a time," said Lead Coordinator Jessie Bates.
Some prizes include home appliances, MP3 players and much more.
