The Springfield Park District is testing the thickness of ice at several ponds for outdoor skating this weekend.

If there are four inches of ice, people will be allowed to skate outdoors.

Ponds at Washington Park, Southwind Park, and Lincoln Park are all being checked.

If the ice is thick enough the ‘no skating’ signs will be removed at those locations.
