The Springfield Fire Department is making the holidays brighter for local charities.

Monday night, representatives presented a donation to the Triple Heart Foundation, which our very own Stacey Skrysak and her family founded.

The donation was made in honor of a local fireman whose family was touched by the charity.

It's all part of their annual 12 Days of Christmas program.

"We are public servants,” Springfield Firefighters Local 37 President Gary Self said. “We serve the public on a daily basis and the least we can do for what they give us is give a little bit back."

The Springfield Fire Department holds a raffle every year.

Part of the money is given out to raffle winners, and part is given out to 12 charities.

Mini O'Beirne Crisis Nursery, Contact Ministries, and the Mary Bryant Home are just a few of the dozen recipients this year.
