Fifth Street Flower Shop showing appreciation to local veterans
A national movement to make people smile hits the road from Springfield to Quincy.
Sunday, around 200 volunteers came out to the 5th Street Flower Shop in Springfield preparing to deliver 500 smiley mugs filled with flowers and bath products to a veterans home in Quincy.
"This country is great because of our veterans and if they need bath products if they need underclothes, anything they need," said LeeAnn Nelson, Fifth Street Flower Shop employee, co-sponsor of Rally Ride. "Anything they need. They are not in the trenches anymore. They're back in the state’s and they need everything provided that they need."
All of the products were hand delivered to the veterans.
People from east St. Louis to Chicago to Jacksonville participated in the event.
