Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony Receives Donation from Springfield Clinic

The Springfield Clinic making a donation to the Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony Tuesday.

The donation is a part of the clinic's Springfield Clinic Gives program.

The symphony received a variety of items like music stands, cymbals, and other equipment the group needed.

Officials said the students are thrilled to use the new percussion equipment.

“Our kids are very excited to be able to play on some new percussion instruments that works and sounds much better than what we've been tolerating. We've also been struggling with having enough music stands for our ensemble,” said executive director, Jacquelyn Evers.

The Sangamon Valley Youth Orchestra has about 180 youth musicians in the ensemble.
