ROCHESTER, Ill. (WICS) —
The Rochester Lions Club is giving back to the police department on Monday.
The club presented a check for $1,200 for the Rochester Police Department to buy an Automated External Defibrillator or A.E.D.
The money was raised during the club's annual haunted house attraction, The Boo Crew.
Rochester's police chief said the department has never had an A.E.D. in the past.
“It's a very strong likelihood that we'll be the first responder,” Police Chief Kent Bragg said, “and we've had a couple situations where people were having heart situations and we just weren't able to do a great deal. This gives us a chance to help somebody."
The Boo Crew Haunted House runs every October and is completely staffed by volunteers.
