Pawnee Plant proposal given at Committee of the Whole meeting
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) —
Tuesday night, at the Committee of the Whole Meeting, EmberClear gave a presentation on a proposed plan for the Pawnee Power Plant.
Officials with the company hoped to inform and educate the council on the assessments they've put together.
They said Illinois is a great state to invest in.
If the vote goes through, Mayor Jim Langfelder said the plant would bring numerous job opportunities to the area.
"It's projected to create 300-600 construction jobs, and then permeant jobs between 30-40 high paid career opportunity positions,” said City of Springfield Mayor, Jim Langfelder.
The possible power plant near Pawnee will be brought up again at the City Council Meeting at the end of August.
The final vote will take place on September 5.
