No more valedictorians at Kankakee High School
KANKAKEE, Ill. (WRSP/WICS) —
Kankakee High School will no longer have a valedictorian.
The school board made the decision to eliminate class rankings based on 'grade point averages'.
Instead, it's switching to a college-style Latin system.
This means honors will be given to recognize everyone who scores at a certain threshold.
School boards nationwide have taken similar steps to reduce pressure on students to achieve a top rank.
