More Screen Time for Kids May Delay Development
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) —
Mobile devices can be great learning tools for your children, but kids who spend a lot of time looking at screens may experience delayed speech development.
Researchers found that toddlers who look at more TVs or smartphones are more likely to have a delay in the ability to communicate with sounds and words.
However, screen time doesn't appear to have an impact on non-verbals, like gestures or body language.
Researchers recommend no screen time at all for children 18 months and younger.
