Mommy Matters: Staying safe on social media
In this week’s Mommy Matters, it's a new generation where we are raising our kids in a tech-savvy world.
But with that, comes fear over what our children may face online.
A unique app called Bark is helping parents make sure their children stay safe on social media.
The app monitors dozens of social media accounts, including text and emails, and alerts parents when there is dangerous activity like cyberbullying, internet predators, or suicidal thoughts.
"We connect to the account level, give teens and tweens a privacy they crave and deserve and hopefully foster more open communication between parents and children because honestly, they need to be having these conversations with their children in a way that parents never had to,” said Titania Jordan, Bark chief parent officer.
The technology makes sure that the bark app doesn't invade the privacy of your child, it simply keeps an eye out for those key dangers by recognizing different terms and slang.
Bark does cost a small monthly fee. The app is available for Apple and Android products.
