Mommy Matters: Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month

In 2001, Melony Ellis lost twin boys shortly after birth and later that year delivered a stillborn daughter. (WICS)

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Month. All month, we are sharing stories of finding life after loss.

Melony Ellis is a mother to identical twin girls, but her road to parenthood started much earlier. In 2001, she lost twin boys shortly after birth and later that year delivered a stillborn daughter. After three devastating losses, Melony and her husband tried to find purpose while they were grieving.

Melony wanted to keep the memory of her children alive and to continue telling their story even though they weren't living. She found that outlet through the Springfield Walk To Remember and Angel of Hope. Melony is one of the original volunteers for the organization which honor babies who passed due to miscarriage, stillbirth or infant loss.
