Man dies in Georgetown rollover crash
GEORGETOWN, Ill. (WICS) —
11:48 a.m. update:
ISP says Route 1 is back open in Georgetown after a fatal crash.
Illinois State Police (ISP) troopers are on the scene of a single-vehicle rollover fatal crash in Georgetown on Illinois Route 1 southbound between 8th street and 9th street.
ISP says the preliminary investigation reveals a pickup truck was driving southbound when it left the roadway, crossed the sidewalk, struck an incline in a residential yard, struck a tree and overturned onto the roof of the car in the southbound lane.
The 71-year-old man from Westville who was driving the truck was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation.
Traffic is being re-routed as the roadway will be closed for several hours.
