Locals learn about apprenticeships offered around central Illinois
It was an afternoon full of opportunity for people of all ages, 11 different construction trades gathered at the bank of Springfield Center for the third annual Building Trades Career Day.
There they talked apprenticeships to potential employees.
Organizers said apprenticeships seem to be a lost form of getting into a career but share it can open doors for everyone.
“The schools don’t really promote it that much, we're trying to introduce it to the kids at a young age so they can have another alternative to college,” Local 137 training director Andrew Fuchs said.
They share over 1,200 people registered for Tuesday's fair.
