Lawmakers push for domestic violence protection bill approval
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) —
Lawmakers are urging the House to pass a bill that would add protection for domestic violence survivors.
Rep. Lisa Hernandez said the bill would make Illinois the most welcoming state in the country for domestic violence survivors.
The bill would increase protections for survivors of sexual assault, workplace sexual violence, domestic violence, human trafficking and immigrant rights.
"We can no longer wait. This bill must be passed this session," Hernandez said. "I call on all my colleagues to pass all three of these measures as the session draws close."
The final action deadline for the bill is set for May 25.
