Palmyra Man Arrested After Three Hour Standoff

A Palmyra man is in custody after a standoff with multiple law enforcement agencies.

Macoupin County Sheriff's deputies were called to the 400 block of North Pearl Street around 5 a.m. where a woman claimed the suspect, Teddy Holmes, stole her car.

He returned to the home just before 9 a.m., then refused to let her leave.

The Macoupin County Sheriff's Office, Palmyra Police, and Illinois State Police responded to the standoff.

Holmes released the woman around 11 a.m. and then barricaded himself inside the home.

He surrendered to police around 12:30 p.m.
