Grace Lutheran Church having repairs done after lightning strikes roof
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) —
A local church was struck by lightning and now crews are looking to quickly repair it.
The Springfield Fire Department responded to an alarm going off around three this morning.
Once there, they realized the church had in fact been hit by lightning.
Those in charge, at Grace Lutheran Church said services will not be delayed and say the repairs will be a work-in-progress.
“No delays are expected right now and we'll know more about repairing the damage as soon as we get the adjuster out here,” Ed Wollet of Grace Lutheran Church.
One of the four spires was hit and a chunk of stone fell through the roof.
Capitol and Seventh streets were blocked off this morning out of caution for falling debris.
