One last chance to help those in need before Christmas
Christmas is a time when many spend time with family and friends but, let's not forget about those who are in need this holiday.
The Salvation Army said that people have one last chance to volunteer before the year is over.
Saturday is that last day and all they're asking for is two hours of your time which will go a long way.
You might have seen red kettles around town lately but they're not just any red kettles.
Jay landers with the Salvation Army said the Red Kettle Campaign is how they raise money for some of their programs that help those in need this year. Their goal is $200,000 and they are looking for volunteers to finish strong!
"Just two hours on the 23rd to ring a bell next to a kettle and you'll be doing good things for those who need,” Landers, said.
The best part, all the money that is raised from the campaign will go to help those here in Springfield and Sangamon County.
The Red Kettle Campaign started on November 10 and ends December 23. They've raised around $160,000 so far.
