Downtown Decatur Renovations Announced
The redevelopment of downtown Decatur is continuing.
The company FirsTech announced Tuesday it will be demolishing two of its buildings and renovating two other buildings on the block between south park and east main.
Some of the plans include the construction of a new drive thru at Busey Bank.
According to FirsTech, the goal of the renovations is to enhance its technological capabilities.
While FirsTech has locations across the country, the company tells us the decision to invest in new facilities in Decatur was an easy one.
"The investment here in Decatur really was about the people with FirsTech. and I think it just speaks to the work ethic and the solid foundation that central Illinois has overall in terms of the people it produces," said Howard Mooney, President & CEO, FirsTech.
The project is expected to have about 50 full time employees and more jobs could be created in the future.
The company hopes to move into the renovated buildings by this summer and have the demolition finished by the end of 2016.
