Champaign firefighters spent more than five hours on the scene Tuesday morning after responding to a call on Park Haven Drive in Champaign.

The family was out of town when the fire took place. Firefighters are calling the home a total loss.

Crews arrived on scene around 4:30 a.m. and MTD provided a bus for firefighters to warm up.

Firefighters want to remind the community to be careful going around the scene of a house fire this time of year because of the ice that forms from hosing down the fire.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
