Celebrating the new year in Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WICS) —
Jacksonville residents celebrated the new year at local businesses on New Year’s Day.
Several restaurants opened for festivities.
Some even offered free food to celebrate the start of 2018.
The event is a yearly tradition in Jacksonville.
Some people we spoke with say it's just one way to support local businesses while celebrating the new year.
"I think it's important,” Jacksonville resident Amber Rigor said, “because all of these bars do all of these things like put food out.”
“And have all these people from around town, or in Jacksonville, to come and eat and celebrate the new year coming in."
Another resident we spoke with said her family has been coming to this event for more than 6 years.
