Car vs. building accident occurs at Chatham Presbyterian Church
CHATHAM, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) —
A van crashed into the Chatham Presbyterian Church on 1835 East Walnut Street in Chatham Monday afternoon.
The crash occurred around 4:05 p.m. and took out the power at the intersection of East Walnut Street and Gordon Drive.
Sgt. Ryan Pearce, of the Chatham Police Department, said a female driver was transported to Memorial Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
A young child was also in the car but was uninjured.
The driver of the van damaged the control box during the crash, causing the stoplights at the nearby intersection to stop working.
Currently, police have installed portable stop signs and traffic is flowing smoothly.
