Car burglars take hand gun and credit cards
CHAMPAIGN CO, Ill. (WICS) —
The Champaign County Sheriff's Office is asking for your help in identifying two suspects who they believe are connected to two car burglaries that took place in St. Joseph.
The car burglaries took place on November 10 and December 10 around the 500 block of Cedar Drive.
Both times, burglars got away with credit cards. What concerns deputies more, however, is a handgun that was taken from the vehicle burglarized in December.
"I never suggest leaving handguns in a vehicle overnight,” investigator Tim Beckett said. “Make sure you take them inside your residence and they're secured and make sure you've vehicle is always locked. You always want to lock your vehicle."
Deputies were able to get pictures of the suspects when they used a victim’s credit card at retail stores in Danville and Indiana.
Deputies said they do believe the two burglaries are tied together.
If you have any information on the suspects, you are asked to call Champaign County Crime Stoppers at (217) 373-TIPS.
