Dan Caulkins announces his candidacy for 101st District
DECATUR, Ill. (WICS) —
Thursday, Dan Caulkins announced at the Decatur Civic Center that he will be running as a Republican Representative for the 101st District.
Caulkins is hoping to take over Bill Mitchell's seat after he retires next year.
He said he will try a unique approach by declining a salary and not be a part of the health insurance plan offered by the state Capitol.
“I don't need a job and I hope that I set a tone for other people,” said 101st District candidate, Dan Caulkins. “An example, let's send citizens to Springfield to solve these problems, not as a career.”
Caulkins is a retired army major and former Decatur City Councilman.
