Seniors Learn More About Proper Hand Washing
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) —
Senior citizens got the chance to learn more about hand washing on Wednesday.
The event is part of a program for Springfield residents 55 or over called "Third Age".
A speaker went through proper hand-washing techniques and other ways to avoid germs in everyday life.
One organizer said this information is important for senior citizens to protect themselves.
"This population is definitely more vulnerable because the immune system starts to weaken as we age," said Catherine Spannagel, Coordinator, Third Age Program.
Along with tips on proper handwashing, the guest speaker also went through what places you many find germs that you would never think off.
The Third Age program meets once a week for seniors 55 or older to learn more about various health issues that may affect them.
