Food waste is a hot topic these days and for good reason: It is estimated that 40 percent of America’s food is wasted. Many people are unaware of this, or that dairy foods are thrown out more than other foods. Furthermore, consumers are the biggest contributors to food waste, with the average person tossing 25 pounds of food every month. This is a big problem, since food waste brings with it environmental and economic concerns.
