Andrew Smith from the Animal Protective League joins us with our latest Pet of the Week, Captain Jack!

This Veterans Day Animal Protective League (APL) is proud to be part of the Comptroller Critter's Pet for Vets Adoption day. At any of APL's planned adoption events Saturday, the adoption fee will be waived for any veteran in appreciation of his or her service and sacrifice.

On Saturday, November 11, cats and dogs will be available in APL's mobile pet adoption center from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at PetSmart 3183 S. Veterans Parkway, Springfield as part of PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend. Additionally the shelter, located at 1001 Taintor Rd., Springfield is open daily from noon until 5 p.m. for cat and dog adoptions.

In order to take advantage of the Pets for Vets program, a potential adopter must bring a government issued photo ID and one of the following:

Military ID, Veterans ID, or discharge paperwork (DD-214 or NGB Form 22).

Only veterans with a favorable discharge will qualify for adoption fee waivers.
